PETIT LARCENY - POTSDAM - Canton-based state police charged Casey J. Deshane, 34, of Norfolk with petit larceny at 3:47 p.m. Saturday following an alleged shoplifting incident in the town of Potsdam.



FUGITIVE FROM JUSTICE - MASSENA - Massena-based state police said Joseph A. Bennett, 28, of Louisville was picked up on a fugitive from justice warrant at 6:20 p.m. Saturday at 372 County Route 41 in the town of Massena. He was arraigned by Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility pending extradition proceedings.

Court documents indicated Bennett is wanted by the state of North Carolina on a probation violation for failing to appear as directed on petit larceny and burglary charges in Volusia County, N.C. He previously lived in Flagler Beach Station, Fla., and Kings Mountain, N.C.



UNLAWFUL POSSESSION - TUPPER LAKE - Tupper Lake-based state police charged Ryan J. Petteys, 26, of Potsdam with unlawful possession of marijuana at 8:07 p.m. Saturday following a stop on Route 3 in the town of Piercefield.



PROPERTY DAMAGE ACCIDENTS - MASSENA - State police investigated a number of property damage accidents around the region Friday. Among those were:

■ Brenda L. Snyder, 51, of Nicholville and James E. Andrews, 30, of Malone were involved in a two-vehicle collision at 3 p.m. on Route 11 at County Route 51 in the town of Malone.

■ Cindy Lee Gale, 54, of Moira at 6:38 p.m. on Patterson Road, near North Woods Road, in the town of Moira.
