Salmon River basketball teams gain sweep over P-H

PARISHVILLE - The Salmon River boys and girls basketball teams gained a convincing NAC interdivisional sweep on the road over Parishville-Hopkinton.

Salmon River 80, P-H 46: In the boys game, the Shamrocks pulled away from a 21-6 first-quarter lead for their second win of the season. For the second game in a row, Josh Hynes had a career-high for scoring with a 36-point effort that included three three-pointers. Jordan Wood added 13 points toward the winning cause followed by Dylan Whitehead with 11 and Tyler Brooks with 10. Alex Paulino and Ronatiio Perkins contributed four points apiece while Austin Leduc accounted for the other two.

Mike Burns led the Panthers with 24 points, including a 9-10 showing from the charity stripe. Ryan Snyder added 14 points followed by Tanner Wilson with four while Mike Cook and David Eames closed out P-H scoring with two points each.

Salmon River (2-15, 0-11) closes out the regular season on Friday at Central Division rival Massena while P-H (0-15, 0-12) finishes with an interdivisional game at Madrid-Waddington.

Salmon River 65, P-H 34: No further details regarding the girls game at Parishville were made available by presstime.

BOYS BASKETBALL

In the other NAC boys basketball games played on Wednesday, St. Regis Falls posted a 71-48 interdivisional win over Brushton-Moira and OFA beat Central Division rival Gouverneur 76-36.

SRF 71, B-M 48: In Brushton, the visiting Saints had four players reach double figures as they moved to 17-1 on the season. Caleb Green led the way with 32 points, including five three-pointers. Corey LaBounty added 16 followed by Brandon Votra with 11 and Tyler Daggett with 10 as the Saints pulled away from a 32-21 halftime lead for the win.

Justin Lavarnway paced the Panthers (7-9) with 11 points. Adam Martin and Loren Traynor each netted eight.

OFA 76, Gouverneur 36: At Gouverneur, the Blue Devils built a 22-10 lead by the end of the first quarter as Breton LaRose fired through 21 points followed by Kinnon LaRose with 14 and Tyler Knowlton with eight.

Mark Horne led the Wildcats with eight points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

In other NAC girls basketball action on Wednesday, Colton-Pierrepont gained a 35-21 East Division win on the road over St. Regis Falls while a pair of West Division matchups saw Clifton-Fine outlast Heuvelton 76-71 in overtime and Edwards-Knox down Morristown 54-33.

C-P 35, SRF 21: Andrea Aldous netted a game-high 14 points as the Lady Colts broke away from a 15-15 tie after three quarters with a 20-6 fourth-quarter outburst to come away with the win. Morgan Doyle added eight points followed by Autumn Clark with six, Eve Whalen with four, Kylie McKinley with two and Haylee Hennessy with one.

Brittany Rondeau netted 11 points in the losing cause.
