BARRE, Vt.— Gary Reginald “BO” Tyo died Wednesday, January 16, 2013. He was born in Massena, N.Y. June 12, 1943, the son of Aletha and Reginald Tyo. He was raised in the Massena, Helena, NY. area and has lived in Barre, Vermont since 1987.

He married Laurey M. Highter on August 13, 1966. He graduated from DeGoesbriand School of X-ray in Burlington, VT. in 1965. He worked in the field of X-ray in Syracuse and Utica, NY and worked as the Director of Diagnostic Imaging at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin retiring in 2002 after working there for 15 years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and watching any and all sports especially his New York Giants.

He is survived by his wife Laurey, daughter Tricia Tyo and her husband Jim, and grandchildren Tanner and Carly of Waterbury, VT; son Craig Tyo and grandchildren Sebastian and Seneca of Yulee, Fla; and daughter Morgan and her husband Einar and grandchildren Addyson, Cole and Ellie of Valdez, Alaska; four siblings Judy Durant of Helena, NY, Jack Tyo of Norfolk, Reginald Tyo of Massena, Tom Tyo of Warner’s, NY, step-siblings Bob Beckstead of Massena, NY, Debra Olmstead of Rochester, NY, and many nieces and nephews.

He loved his family especially the grandchildren who were a bright light in his life.

He was predeceased by his parents Aletha and Reginald Tyo, step-mother Jean Beckstead Tyo and step-sister Karen Beckstead Jandreau.

There are no calling hours. In honor of his life we welcome you to come to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 1 Pioneer St., Montpelier, VT. on Saturday, January 19, 2013 from 1-4 pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, Central Vermont Medical Center in Barre, Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice, and Woodridge Nursing Home.
