PETIT LARCENY - MASSENA - Village police have charged a former Massena woman with petit larceny after she allegedly stole just under $1,000 from her register when she was employed at the McDonald’s restaurant on South Main Street.

Tammy Plath, 36, listing an address of 15 Staton Road, Massena, was picked up on an arrest warrant Friday by the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department and turned over to Massena Village Police.

Plath was reportedly working as a cashier at the drive through window on the evening on Nov. 28 when she removed $997.20 from her till, left the store in the middle of her shift and never returned. McDonald’s management employees told police Plath allegedly told a fellow employee she needed to go to her vehicle to get some medications. A short time later, it was determined Ms. Plath and her vehicle were both gone.

McDonald’s officials told police surveillance video showed Plath ringing up false purchases, removing money from the register and placing the money in her pockets.

She was arraigned by Massena Village Justice Eric J. Gustafson and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $1,000 cash.
