Massena: Constance Cappione Wing, 90 of 31 Nightengale Ave. peacefully passed away on January 12, 2013 surrounded by her family. Family and friends are invited to call at the Phillips Memorial Home form 2-4 & 7-9 pm on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday Jan. 8, 2013 at 12:00 pm at the Church of the Sacred Heart with Rev. Donald J. Manfred presiding. Connie will be laid to rest in the spring in Calvary Cemetery, Massena. Connie is survived by her daughters Anne C. Wing and her husband Patrick Reagan of Punta Gorda, FL. And Barbara L. Wing and Randy Burnham of Massena and sons Peter and Eldonna Wing of Massena, and Hugh and Mary Jane Wing of Massena, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Connie also leaves behind a sister Loretta C. “Wella” Opalka of Massena, and five brothers, Samuel A. and Lee Cappione, Benjamin “Benjie” and Joyce Robinson, Francis P. “Bucky” and Mary, Amedeo Jr. “Hag” and Sue, Joseph P. and Sally Aubertine. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Connie was predeceased by her brother Michael “Picky” and a sister Barbara “Baba” Sharlow. Connie was born on May 18, 1922 in Massena the daughter of Amedeo and Philomena (Bronchetti) Cappione. After graduating from Massena High School in 1940, Connie attended Albany Business School and worked at Alcoa’s Plancor Plant upon graduation. She also intermittently worked at her father’s business A. Cappione Inc.

A marriage to John McAloon ended in divorce. Connie married Robert L. Wing on August 28, 1954 and blended a union of two beautiful families to this day. Robert died on April 13, 1983. Connie and her husband enjoyed many years together forming close friendships throughout the United States, especially their times in Pittsburgh and their seven years in Suriname, South American with Bob’s very successful career at Alcoa. Connie’s love was entertaining and cooking for her family and many wonderful friends, including many of Bob’s business colleagues from around the world. She was the consummate hostess and loved by all. Her zest for life was contagious and embraces everyone who knew her of all ages. From those years in Suriname she was instrumental in introducing Mah Jong to her many friends and the long tradition of that teaching continues today. Connie will be remembered also as a Master Bridge player, both duplicate and regular, and whatever card game you threw her way. She was a lifetime member of the Italian American Club, a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
