CANTON The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce board of directors supports addressing inequities in state aid funding that punish school districts in the county versus wealthier districts in other parts of the state.
In a state-by-state comparison, New York ranks 46th out of 50 in equity of funding for public schools, according to the chamber.
Such sustained fiscal injustice will imminently lead to both fiscal and educational insolvency within the St. Lawrence County school districts, a chamber board resolution stated.
The resolution, approved at the boards Dec. 20 meeting, will be sent to local state senators and Assembly members.
